Questions

Honest answers.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free lets your AI write to your tablet and browse what's on it: folder and document names, searchable by name. Pro adds reading — your AI can open your documents, typed or handwritten, and full-text search across them. Handwriting gets transcribed so it's searchable too. The apps suite (mail, calendar, and more) is coming, and Pro gets it first.
Do you keep my data on your servers?
Here's exactly what we store. For everyone who pairs, an index of document names and folders — that's what browsing and name search run on. The contents of your notes (text and page images) are stored only on Pro with Document Reading on, and only for the one folder you connect, under the Document Reading terms. Turn reading off or downgrade and that copy is deleted. What you push moves through our servers in transit and is discarded after delivery; we log each push's title and timestamp for your Recent activity view, not the body. We never sell your data, and there are no ads.
Can my AI see everything on my tablet?
No. You pick one folder; your AI reads that folder and anything nested inside it, and pushes land there too. The rest of your tablet stays private — we never fetch it.
What are AI credits?
Credits pay for handwriting transcription — turning your ink into searchable text. We split each page into geometry-aware cutoutsA small section of a page — like a paragraph or a diagram — that we transcribe on its own. and transcribe each region on its own, at 1 credit per cutout, so a page only pays for the regions on it and cached cutouts are free. That's how we transcribe handwriting better than the tablet's built-in reMarkable OCR. Every new Pro account starts with 250 credits ($10 worth). Reading your notes and full-text search don't use credits; only transcription does. It's on by default for your recent notes, and you can change the window or turn it off in Preferences.
What happens if I run out of credits?
Transcription pauses; everything else keeps working. Top up whenever you like — a one-time payment starting at $10, with bonus credits on larger amounts. No subscription, no auto-refill, and credits never expire.
How many apps will Pro include?
The apps suite is coming soon; Pro subscribers get it first. The plan will include any three from our suite — mail, search, productivity, and more — with the base price covering the daily digests, mail polling, and calendar syncs we run on your behalf.
What if I want more than three apps?
Add as many as you like at $2/month per extra app. No bundle pricing — you pay only for what you actually connect.
What does Self-host include?
The full remarkdown stack (worker, converter, database) running on a server you control. Your documents and search index never touch our machines. It deploys to Railway, Fly.io, DigitalOcean, or AWS, and we'll do the first setup with you, free. Email support@remarkdown.org to get started.
Can you build a custom integration?
Yes. If you're open to us shipping it as part of our suite for everyone, it's a $50 one-time fee. If you want it dedicated to your account only, it's a $500 one-time fee. Email support@remarkdown.org with what you need.
Is this an official reMarkable product?
No. remarkdown is an independent product from Ploton Labs, not affiliated with or endorsed by reMarkable. There's no official public API, so we use the same cloud sync the official apps use. Nothing touches the device itself: no firmware mods, no SSH.
Can I cancel?
Any time, no clawback. You drop back to Free, any synced note contents are deleted from our servers, and your tablet keeps working with your AI exactly like it did.
Do I need a card to start?
Not for Free — no card, no expiry. Pro asks for a card at checkout, handled by Stripe.
